What to beware of when resigning soon after employment
Employment regulations of many companies require at least one-month’s notice before resignation but the general rule puts it at two weeks beforehand. Any later goes against etiquette. However, resignation may occur in cases of sudden illness of family or when the job description is completely different to your role. Although resignation cannot be avoided in such circumstances, leaving your job will put pressure on other employees and your superior. Provide a proper explanation
Your company and superior will not be satisfied with a vague reason such as “personal circumstances” which will not allow for a smooth resignation. A satisfactory explanation should be provided if you wish to maintain a positive relationship with the company. However, you may hesitate to explain specifically if it involves your privacy. What is important is to show the company you are sincere in explaining.
Work to reduce the burden on the company
Sudden resignation will place great pressure on the company, your superior and other employees. Be conscious in giving handovers and finding someone to take over your work to reduce the burden on the company. Naturally, some circumstances do not allow for a full handover to be given.
